I’m angry and it should come as no surprise…

With all the recent talk about the Cornell assault, I’ve been thinking about what would have those males do what they did (please add “allegedly” to any part of this post as relevant to your needs).

I heard interesting commentary this morning about using women as objects for males to demonstrate dominance over women to each other through the act of group rape. It not only offered a new perspective on this heinous behaviour but it also helped me to understand the sexual assault I experienced when I was 15 years old… and everything I have done since then to protect and keep myself (and others) safe from males who desire to demonstrate their fragile and toxic masculinity and claim to be protectors of women.

There is no doubt in my mind that the Cornell assault occurred. Suspensions, essays, the call out on social media, the outcry on social media, and the startling number of men who still don’t know what “the Cornell 7” is or means. All of this reinforces the power that the tech bros have in restricting what we see and which information goes where on socials. They say you build your algorithm brick by brick.

It’s time… it’s time to act before too many more changes happen, resulting in women being once again totally restricted by rich and therefore powerful and the religious zealots who promote dominance over women and that women should be held to ridiculous and socially constructed narratives of chasity and purity for women… all while turning a blind eye to the damage being wrought upon women by broken and toxic incels and powerful rich dudes who believe – too often rightly so – that they can get away with whatever they please.

I’m angry with the order of things in this time and place… I will stand for women’s rights to pleasure, autonomy and freedom from fear of those who proclaim they are protectors of women.

I would rather die standing up for my beliefs and stopping women being harassed and being called angry and aggressive as a slur, rather than something I am proud of.
